Baby Shower Collection Update 11/21/2005
- Thank you to all who helped promote our Baby Shower for Hurricane Katrina Flood Victims and to all the individuals who have contributed baby items.
We are in the process of packing the boxes.
Each box is prepared for a girl or boy from newborn to 2 years and includes diapers, diaper wipes, bottles, sip cups, baby lotion, baby oil, baby powder, formula, and baby shirts, outfits and other items of clothing.
I would like to especially thank my daughter Linda Cirba who is doing the bulk of the work as her senior service hours project.
I also want to thank the mothers club of St. Mary's Byzantine Church in Scranton and the pastors and school principals who promoted our Baby Shower Collection.
National Right to Life has a similar project called Operation Baby Box.
Individuals who would like to participate may visit www.nrlc.org/CPCHelp/OperationBabyBox.html for details.
Update on Baby Shower to Help New Moms & Babies In Areas Hit by Hurricane Katrina 1/30/2006
- In Scranton, a Baby Shower planned to aid the victims of hurricane Katrina, collected nearly three dozen boxes of baby items.
Spearheaded by Linda Cirba, a senior at Bishop Hannan High School, the Baby Shower was held in October and November 2005 to provide babies' needs for the little ones whose families lost everything in the hurricane.
Items included diapers, baby wipes, bottles, baby formula, baby clothes new and used and baby blankets, sweaters and maternity clothes.
The items are being shipped to and will be distributed several Pregnancy Care Centers in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Already 77 pounds of baby items have been shipped with two more shipments planned.
These items will help meet the needs of pregnant mothers and new moms and their babies displaced by hurricane Katrina.
You can still help through Operation Baby Box by visiting www.nrlc.org/CPCHelp/OperationBabyBox.html
